Was ok but few things on the night dissapointing.Music was what we expected and love the oldskool Trance tunes. Even when things change and dont go theway the promoters orchestrate before hand on the actual night.I think people get dissapointed after making arrangements planing hotels and prices to travel by taxis .Everyone has a budget.Few free tickets after fairplay when it happens .But nothing but love on the scence takes alot bring Trancefamily down. We Love it from the heart. Good times always 😍. x

Sound guy was dreadful in that when the orchestra came on (after Paul Oakenfold), the entire choir and strings were drowned out by the music track. Suggest a much better soundman next time.

Bit of a mixed bag with this one. I know some people enjoyed it, but it was pretty poor for the price of the tickets. The orchestra did well but were drowned out and the sound and lighting quality were poor. We did not attend the previous event like our friends, but I can appreciate comments about this venue being too big and lacking atmosphere. The lack of Maxi Jazz considering the advertising was also a let down. Overall a good idea but poorly executed and somewhere a bit smaller and cheaper next time!

Despite having probably all day to sort things out there were significant technical difficulties on the night. The DJ set by Oakenfold was ok but he was obviously having some problems with the deck as tech support came on stage a few times. There was a very long delay before the orchestra and choir came on stage with nothing but the roadies ipod playing some music to entertain us. The orchestra played an amazing set for over 2 hours but were hampered with occasional periods of feedback it was hard to pick out some instruments. The artistes were poorly miked and could not be heard clearly, one mike failed and had to be replaced mid song. Though Maxi Jazz was billed as head lining and though his songs were excellent he only did 2.
With regard to the venue the floor was very cold and my feet were freezing all night despite dancing (I presume it is an ice rink but more insulation could be put down).
I attended similar concert Back to Basics in Millenium square Leeds in the summer where the DJs played with Opera North orchestra, that was half the price and the sound quality was excellent, there was no dead air time as a dj came out and played a set while the orchestra got ready and came on stage, Gatecrasher could learn a lot from them!

The move to the Arena was a bad one. Classical lost all if it's atmosphere compared to city hall.
Wasn't as fully advertised with maxi jazz as the headliner-2 songs. Advertised an improved laser show, there was none.
Tickets paid for early at full price to find gatecrasher advertising for a fraction of the price closer to the event.
Made the most of the night and Oakenfold provided a great set but it has lost its atmosphere through greed.

Why was people with no tickets for the after party being let in before ticket holders and at a very reduced ticket rate ? This was at 12 pm that night. Why should people get tickets beforehand if your just ripping them off

Ok, after the Gatecrasher event at the City Hall earlier this year I was really looking forward to this event, but apart from Paul Oakenfold who was amazing, it went downhill from there. The sound of the music was awful, there was zero lasers, half of the orchestra went AWOL. We paid nearly £50 each for a ticket, and to get a text earlier that week saying tickets were now half price really would me up !! If I could get a refund I would. Sheffield Arena is absolutely awful for these events as well, no choice for drinks, it's either 1 lager(Carlsberg) which is absolutely honking, or 1 cider (Sommersby) which isn't actually that bad. There's no way I'll come back to this event here, the City Hall is the only venue for this and the atmosphere there was amazing.

This was my first GC event and to be honest I wasn’t impressed. I had been so excited to go and then so disappointed. The only saving grace is that so many people thought the same as me. The sound was terrible and I was really disappointed to only hear two songs by Maxi Jazz...the ‘headliner’..... maybe I’ll try another GC event in the future as by the reviews above when it’s done correctly it’s an amazing experience!!

What a terrible event!!!!
No lasers, terrible sound quality, maxi jazz was poor and didn't sing advertised songs, half of the microphones didn't work, Paul oakenfold was poor. 40 minutes queue to buy drinks.
The dance floor was freezing cold, a lot of people had coats on, or were shivering.

Great show, loved the orchestra and all the singers. Was let down slightly with Paul oakendfold’s set. Thought his set list could have been more in touch with the whole evening.

Good night overall. The arena was too big though and felt empty. No lasers as promised and faithless only did 2 songs. However we had a really good night and would go again.
