Mento-B and the Jamaica Folk Ensemble on Saturday 27th March 2021
TAKE A JOURNEY TO THE ROOTS OF REGGAE AND SKA
George Linton (aka Mento-B) is a well-known musician on the Manchester Caribbean scene and further afield in Greater Manchester, where he has been running successful jam nights at various venues for many years. His mission is to promote Caribbean musicians and culture to the wider community.
The Manchester-based Jamaica Folk Ensemble was established by Manchester’s Jamaica Society back in the 1980s with the aim of promoting and maintaining Jamaican cultural heritage. Although many of the founders have now retired back home to Jamaica, a few of the original members still remain.
One of the ensemble’s main roles is to ensure that the many younger generations of Jamaicans learn about and appreciate their roots.
