Reviews of Northwood House in Cowes

Northwood House venue information

Local author, Joan Ellis invites you to The Isle of Wight Literary Festival where she will be performing her new show: ‘A Woman’s Wit, Wisdom and Pratfalls’, celebrating women in all our wonderfulness - not forgetting those cringe-worthy moments when we want to make a
good impression and life provides the trip wire!

Award-winning advertising copywriter, comedy writer, performer, lecturer - Joan Ellis has been them all.

Now an acclaimed author, Joan is performing her new show, written for any woman: 'A Woman’s Wit, Wisdom and Pratfalls’ at The Isle of Wight Literary Festival, celebrating a women in all our wonderfulness - our funny bones and our flaws.

Meet the flip, fearful, fantastic women from her four acclaimed books: chick lit, memoir and psychological thrillers including the five star, Island-based chiller, The Killing of Mummy's Boy,
inspired by Joan's terrifying encounter with a murderer on a train. Why didn’t she move seats when he boasted about his crime? Her plan, to keep him calm, worked too well. He asked her to run away with him. Obviously, she refused but having survived the encounter, his twisted
insights were too good to waste.

Join Joan at the Isle of Wight Literary Festival, Northwood House, Sunday 18 October, 3.30pm when she takes a wry view of a woman’s lot, including the perils of working with animals, children and celebrities in 80s Adland, the ups and downs of bringing up baby alone and her own banana-skin moments.

Ticket price includes a FREE book at the show.

Praise for Joan's work:

‘You will laugh. Laugh. And laugh some more.’
‘Joan Ellis writes beautifully…like discovering a diamond in the rubble.’
