Reggae Xmas 2022 ft Aleighcia Scott & her band on Saturday 24th December 2022
Cowley Road's most brilliant, bestest festive tradition returns to rock The Bullingdon once more. Reggae Xmas has been an East Oxford yuletide institution for the past 26 years, beginning life with the launch of The Zodiac in 1995 and lighting up every Christmas Eve since. Even 2020 (thank you Tap Social)! In recent times we've had some amazing names grace the stage, and we think this year is a little bit extra-special.
Aleighcia Scott’s voice has the soul of the finest Reggae singers combined with the power of a 50-strong Welsh choir, and given that she grew up in Cardiff with family roots from Trelawny, Jamaica, this should come as no surprise. It’s a voice that is exciting those in the know on the Reggae scene and Aleighcia has recorded with Julian Marley, Salam Remi (Amy Winehouse) and modern-day production powerhouses Peckings Records and Rory Stonelove, scoring radio airplay from BBC1Xtra and the great David Rodigan along the way. In short, this girl rides classic rocksteady, reggae and lovers rock rhythms like no other. Get ready to fall in love.
Oxford's original rebel sound - Daniel Norland and special guests nice up the dance with roots reggae and rub-a-dub.
Trojan selector, Wailers warm-up and purveyor of the best beats in the business. Co-creator of the world-famous Disco Shed, curator of Skylarkin’ Soundsystem for the past 20 years. Luddite. Story-teller. Party starter.
DASHER & WAZZY
The groovesome twosome have become a front bar festive fixture, mashing up room two with heavy funk, hip hop, soul, disco and more besides.
