Reggae Xmas 2018 on Monday 24th December 2018
Cowley Road's most brilliant, bestest festive tradition lives on. Reggae Xmas has been an East Oxford yuletide institution for the past 20 years, beginning life with the launch of The Zodiac in 1995 and lighting up every Christmas Eve since. In recent times we've had some amazing names grace the stage, and this year is no exception!
WRONGTOM MEETS THE RAGGA TWINS
One of Skylarkin' Soundsystem's favourite sons, renegade roots and dub producer Wrongtom returns to Reggae Xmas after a lengthy absence with legendary breakbeat/jungle MCs The Ragga Twins - showcasing tracks from their acclaimed Tru Thoughts LP. Flinty Badman and Deman Rockers take you back to the ‘80s reggae and dancehall landscape where they started out, with echoes of their Unity Soundsystem days via a rediscovered backpack full of lyrics intended for Prince Jammy back in the day. . The album has received plays and praise from all across the reggae world and the live show is incendiary. Don't miss!
ZAIA are a British dub reggae band with a soul, folk and rock twist, with influences ranging from Capleton, Gregory Issacs and King Tubby to Gentleman, Chronixx and Protoje. The resulting sound has been described as “a real sun-kissed groove, awash with sparkling brass flourishes and cavernous basslines, but with a deep melodic soulfulness at its heart', and Sir David Rodigan counts himself among their many admirers.
• “A true unsung hero” David Rodigan, BBC Radio
• “Probably Ireland’s best-kept secret” Zone Magazine
“One of the top DJ’s in the country… he mixes the records like a dance
DJ… he’s super skilled at it, he really gets the place jumping” Earl

• “The King Of Rum & Bass” Oxford Mail
Support comes from Reggae Xmas originators: Oxford's original rebel sound DestaNation, Trojan turntablist
Count Skylarkin, Ockard Riddim's Constant Jammin + more. Dasher and Wazzy bring the party to room two.
