Dark Matter Promotions presents The Hanging Stars & Phil Quinn on Saturday 15th May 2021
In February 2020 The Hanging Stars released their third album of beautifully crafted Cosmic Americana, A New Kind of Sky, winning four-star reviews from Uncut Magazine, Shindig Magazine and The Times, amongst others.
BBC Radio 2’s Bob Harris declared “I love this band!”.
The Hanging Stars’ second album Songs for Somewhere Else (2018) won acclaim from Uncut Magazine, Shindig (several features and four-star review), The Quietus and The Line of Best Fit.
Their critically acclaimed 2016 debut Over the Silvery Lake received plaudits from broadsheets such as The Times and The Guardian, as well as Uncut and Q. They picked up a good amount of support at BBC 6 Music and “The House on the Hill” scored a much coveted 10/10 by John Robb on Steve Lamacq’s Roundtable.
“a hazy, desert-dream of a song, nicely sharpened with steely-eyed guitars, Mersey-laced harmonies and just a whiff of the Gun Club.” The Guardian
“Swampy psychedelia that recalls the Medway Delta as much as the Mississippi, the band’s new single neatly conjoins these influences.” Clash
Philip Quinn is a singer and songwriter (not a singer/song
writer, apparently, that is something entirely different) based
in the so called pop cult city of Manchester. Phil has paid his
dues to the music scene across the UK while being the ex
front man of indie rockers Little Volcanoes for 9 years.
A recent review described him as '80s inspired
melodies with modern indie backdrops, a must see
musician.' A Northern Social.
Music Genres: 70s, Acoustic
