Musician and writer Tim Maycox debut under the alias Wooden Tape, album ‘Music From Another Place’.
Having played in various bands in and around Merseyside, supporting acts such as Teeth of the Sea and Mainliner, Tim has recently turned his attention to writing a set of pieces based on his memories of children’s television themes coupled with flashes of acid folk and classic OST music of the 1970’s & 80’s. Sonically the album is awash with picked acoustic guitars, percussive adornments, warm synth pads and organ. The titles themselves, suggest lost soundtracks or memories of forgotten TV themes.
As much about time and place as it is about musical influence, this album has been written, performed and recorded by Maycox. Maycox has put together a 5 piece of like minded musicians to take the album on the road.
With support from Rose Greewood multi-instrumentalist singer songwriter, live looping artist and session musician with a back catalogue of material showcasing her acoustic folk pop style. An eminent figure in the UK's underground music scene, Rose has played countless renowned festivals and a myriad of cult venues across the UK. Recorded live sessions include several BBC radio performances and her songs have been played on stations across France, Canada, Australia & the USA.
And POLA a Manchester based act playing experimental rock. They are informed by modal jazz, exotica, free improvisation, static drone and noir/western soundtracks. Paddy Roper (lap steel, double bass, keys) and Greg Chiche (guitar, clarinet) released their debut, Opaque, in 2021.
