Tenderlonious presents Ruby Rushton + Quake DJs on Wednesday 24th April 2019
Led by the multi-instrumentalist, producer and 22a records founder Tenderlonious – jazz quartet Ruby Rushton have been at the forefront of the UK jazz scene since 2015, when they released their debut album Two For Joy. Following it up in 2017 with the dual-volume Trudi's Songbook, they were praised for their ‘musical precision and ramped up energy’ by Stamp the Wax, as they received award nominations and regular airtime from Gilles Peterson, Jazz FM, BBC Radio 6 and many more.
2019 sees the band continuing to push boundaries and lead the way with their new genre-defying album, Ironside. The music is rooted in the spiritual concepts of jazz heroes such as John Coltrane and Yusef Lateef, whilst adopting influences from hip-hop, Afrobeat and the UK underground culture. Expect high energy, freeform, contemporary jazz with nods to The Headhunters and Weather Report heyday.
“If ever proof was needed that the London jazz scene is on fire right now - here it is!”
