SBD presents: CAMENS
Friday November 15th
Camens are amongst the new breed of northern band and more specifically the new bunch of talent hailing from Stoke-on-Trent. The band cite a string of mid-2000s guitar bands as influences and it's easy to see why. Lyrics full of honest, colloquialism-tinged storytelling and more hooks than a fisherman’s tackle box have helped them reel in new fans everywhere they go.
Camens launched in early 2017. The debut single ‘Boys Will Stray’ was described by BBC Radio 6’s Gideon Coe as ‘A Well Recorded Strong Debut’. Tom Robinson’s Fresh on the Net team selected it in a top 25 tracks upon submission, as well as continual support from BBC Introducing’s Rob Adcock. This was followed by a busy festival season which took them north to Redcar Rocks, south to Boardmasters, east to Latitude and west to Green Man. Since then the band have gone on to attract more high profile fans including bastion of new music, Steve Lamacq, who recently played the latest single ‘Danny DeVito’ on his BBC Radio 6 show in July. The band have continued to nurture this success securing support slots with The Sherlocks and Scouting For Girls as well as performing at Manchester’s Etihad Stadium.
Plus support from:
Up and coming five-piece indie-rock band from Northampton. Two absolute bangers so far, they can only be heading in one direction...
Leisure Tank is an indie rock power duo from London. Raw, minimalistic, analogue rock with unpredictable song structures and heavy, danceable grooves. K.C.’s voice and poetical lyrics have been compared to early PJ Harvey, Anna Calvi and Leslie Feist.
Female singer/songwriter, guitarist K.C. and her mate Budi on drums have left Berlin, Germany, to form this vibrant rock band in 2014.
With punchy choruses and emotional themes, Northants band SkyFlood mix together the indie scene of the late 90s and the 00s with a style that blends several bands together to create a very unique piano-led alt-rock style.
With Craig (Vox/Piano), Pete (Bass), Sam (Guitar) and Rhys (Drums) the four of them make a very unique bond, and that comes through in their music and onstage together. Having released ‘Flawless’ back in 2017 the band have been honing their skills throughout that time building a fanbase. During the early part of 2019 they released the single ‘Destiny’ to a very warm welcome, which grabbed the attention of BBC Introducing.
