Opera North's L'enfant et les sortilèges on Saturday 11th November 2017

Ravel's 45-minute, one-act opera, L'enfant et les sortilèges (The Child and the Magic Spells), is a bewitching childhood fantasy packed with colourful characters including a pair of singing cats (Quirijn de Lang and Katie Bray), a teapot and china cup duo (John Graham-Hall and Ann Taylor) and a talking armchair (John Savournin).

See what happens when a naughty child (Wallis Giunta) refuses to do his homework and throws a tantrum in his room. In French with English surtitles displayed on screens, the magical words and gorgeous musical score make this a great way to introduce children (7+) to the joys of opera.

Annabel Arden directs while Anthony Kraus conducts the Orchestra of Opera North.
