2020 - 50 YEARS OF CLASSIC BRITISH ROCK AND BLUES

The halcyon days of the 1970’s produced some of the most renowned rock and blues bands that the world has ever heard. Whilst many will focus on Led Zeppelin and Black Sabbath there were many bands working away on the huge club and university circuit at that time.

Status Quo, Judas Priest and Thin Lizzy were amongst the best known to emerge from the countless van journeys up and down the fledgling UK motorway system and the autobahns of Europe. Alongside them a large number of bands struggled to break out and conquer the world outside. Budgie, Lone Star, UFO, Heavy Metal Kids, Nutz were favourites in the bars and refectories and independent radio and music press helped their cause. But they were never really able to propel them to the dizzy heights an brighter lights.

So in 1970, four lads from London went into a Chelsea studio and laid down what has become to be acknowledged as one the finest debut albums ever produced. Stray.

Across London, in De Lane Lea Studios, Ken Pustelnik was laying down drums and percussion for The Groundhogs with Tony McPhee. The result would be Thank Christ For The Bomb. Unbeknown to the respective sound engineers Jerry Boys and Martin Birch they produced two of that years, indeed that decades, finest albums.

Wind the tapes 50 years forward…and Del Bromham and Ken Pustelnik bring their powerful revitalised Stray and Groundhogs back on the road to audiences new and established.

Recent reviews are exciting and enthusiastic. These bands are led by formidable musicians who could have easily rested on their rock and roll laurels. Instead they have refined and rejuvenated some of their most outstanding works and offer them for your scrutiny and enjoyment. They do not disappoint. They rock.
