A Christmas Carole on Saturday 1st December 2018
NDS will make the most of its chiefly female ensemble with a unique spin on the classic tale of A Christmas Carol with gender-swapped roles. Meet cantankerous Elizabeth Scrooge, her lowly clerk Barbara Cratchit and the mysterious Jessica Marley in this version of the traditional yuletide story. Other Dickensian characters such as Miss Havisham and Fagin will also be gracing the stage in this very different production. Ruth Wheeler, member of Newbury Dramatic Society and writer of this adaption, tells us; “there is no agenda behind this version of the story. It’s just a bit of festive fun. We want to delight and the audience, make them laugh and maybe make them jump out of their seats too!” The production is suitable for the whole family and being performed at Morpheus Theatre at the Phoenix Centre in Newtown Road on 1st December. Performances are at 3:30pm and 7:30pm. Tickets are £10 (under 16s £7)
