Drøne/diyd present : 'øde'- AUTUMNS, Kenny Campbell, Schoolhouse on Friday 28th June 2019

Drøne MCR + DIYD have synergised to present a new series of nights fusing an eclectic mix of underground dark electronic music with atmospheric visuals and a DIY ethos. 'øde' - an audio visceral experience.

For this lineup, we're proud to present Autumns (Death & Leisure, Downwards Records, Clan Destine Records).

The Autumns project emerged fully formed on Karl O’Connor/Regis illustrious label Downwards back in 2014, the youngest act in a new vanguard of artists that included the likes of Tropic of Cancer, DVA DAMAS and The KVB.

We're proud to announce the first night promoting his sophomore album on Broken English Club's/Oliver Ho's label Death & Leisure‘ SHORTLY AFTER NOTHING’ where we promise live, raw, sneering electronics.

Kenny Campbell's Pitch Dark Records is a Scottish label focusing on the rawest blackest Techno with a crushing, metallic, mechanical rhythmic feel.

Having embraced the harder side of electronic music upon discovering Mescalinum United’s “We Have Arrived” in 1991, Kenny started collecting early Industrial Strength records. Inspired by DJ’s like Lenny Dee, he bought a set of turntables and soon found himself playing regularly in loca clubs but was constantly being asked to stop …………….. playing too fast and hard.

In 2017 he launched Pitch Dark Records with Alex Mullen, a label oriented towards dark, industrial and EBM sounds. It was well received and in little under a year they unleashed amazing releases from heavyweights such as Mickey Nox, 14anger and Dep Affect amongst others and have been on the play lists of many big acts including Rebekah, Perc and Dax J.

As well as being co-resident at the steam pit of a club ‘DrØne’ in Manchester which books artists including The Horrorist, Blush Response and Front 242, he also hosts ‘Industrial Wasteland’ on Fnoob Techno Radio showcasing both certified and new artists, and appearing on many other established transmissions himself.

With a gig calendar permanently full of bookings all over the world for his very noisy live sets and DJing skills, it’s safe to say the masses that journey to witness this industrial techno onslaught will be fully converted to his dark side.

School House are an electronica project from Manchester.

“Textually, it resembles the dense minimalism of Pauline Oliveros or Makoto Kawabata’s most cosmic excursions, but the inclusion of rhythm adds an intoxicating sense of urgency and drama. Even by dizzying standards of the prolific underground of greater manchester, the heavy textures and inundated tendrils of this music are hard to resist.”
• The Wire

“A spellbindingly pretty, utterly mysterious, and very welcome addition to the growing British school of guitar minimalism.'
• The Quietus

'Keening microtonal drone explorations and slow, shapeshifting industrial/electro-acoustic structures recalling work by Ilpo Väisänen or KETEV.'
• Boomkat

“The thing that keeps drawing me back to this is the mysterious atmosphere the music evokes, a kind of contemplative wonder.”
• Norman Records
