MCR Live x Manchester Museum: After Hours on Thursday 4th October 2018

As part of Manchester Museum's After Hours season, MCR Live is curating a series of FREE events in the museum! Yes, FREE! That's not all - drinks for the evening will be provided by Camden Town Brewery & Jägermeister, whilst Pioneer DJ will be providing high-quality equipment and sound systems. The events kick off on Thursday, October 4th, with the first event promoting the launch of the new 'Women In Nature' exhibition which celebrates the contribution to the study of nature by numerous women, whilst telling their unique stories. Tickets for this event are FREE and are available from Skiddle.

Starting with a tour of the new exhibition by some of the fascinating women who have contributed to it, there will also be a workshop led by textile artist Natalie Linney showing you how to produce your very own piece of print by using the hapa zome method. (The Japanese art of beating leaves and flowers with hammers; pounding natural pigment into cloth.) To end things, & to coincide with the exhibition, MCR Live have curated a HUGE line-up of some of the best women DJ's, artists & collectives in Manchester.

Providing a mix of cutting-edge electronic & world music, music for the evening will be spread across two rooms & provided by:

Meat Free (Aalice) - One-quarter of Manchester’s female collective Meat Free, Alice Woods can be found playing house through to techno & back to disco. From THE WAREHOUSE PROJECT to Field Maneuvers, Pangaea Festival & Parklife – Alice has DJ'd alongside the likes of Steffi, Ben Sims, Randomer and Objekt. When not in front of the decks, Aalice has appeared as a speaker on a number of panels from Simple Things, AVA to Radio 1 and is a curator of Floor Music Talks.

B L O O M - A new collective based in South Manchester serving up hypnotic rhythms, oscillating beats and organising some of the best and most inclusive parties in the city. For this event, they're sending one of their most eclectic residents, Natalia.

Me Gusta - A collective that aims to provide an array of soulful music from all of the continents. Me Gusta's events give everyone the chance to express dance and the love of music. Resident Panda Palm will be selecting for them.

Katbrownsugar - Musician, DJ and radio host Katbrownsugar is MCR Live's Mixcloud 'Rising Star' winner and is spearheading the new and emerging hip-hop scene in Manchester.

Alex Zalewska - A resident of Netil Radio and the brains behind Sound Constellations, a platform which specialises in hypnotic jazz, soulful sounds and hip-hop rhythms from around the world.

Abena - one of the co-founders of All Hands On Deck, the open deck night for those who identify as non-binary, gender non-conforming and trans*.

Tickets for this event are FREE and are available from Skiddle.
