Modern Nature & John Haycock at The Carlton Club, Manchester
Modern Nature will tour the UK to promote their new album No Fixed Point In Space, stopping in at The Carlton Club, Whalley Range for their Manchester show.
No Fixed Point In Space, the third full-length album by Jack Cooper’s Modern Nature, takes the palette of sound and themes that were honed on 2021’s Island Of Noise and launches them into an expansive world of openness and vivid technicolour. It’s a music that hasn’t been heard before; as melodic as anything Cooper has produced but framed by rhythms and instrumentation that reflect the chaos, unpredictability and colour of the natural world.
Support comes from John Haycock. Having trained with Gambian griot and kora master Jali Kuyateh, John takes the 21 string African harp and runs it through a series of electronic devices creating lush soundscapes and solid beats and overlays it with woodwind instruments, bridging the gap between ancient West African Folk melodies and modern electronica, visiting influences from hip-hop to ambient to dub along the way.
Renowned Manchester based DJ Rob Bright will provide sounds before, between and after performances.
