Left, Right & Centre → DJ Lag on Friday 12th July 2019
DJ Lag →
South African superstar, King of GQOM, and all round badman selector DJ Lag is our next guest as we take a little turn away from our usual bass heavy, techno driven sounds here at Left, Right & Centre. When we heard DJ Lag was back in Europe we had to snap at the opportunity to bring through one of the driving forces behind the Durban dance music scene. As one of the most exciting new sounds to come through the underground in the past decade; GQOM fuses the percussive rhythms of Southern African tribal music with the more modern flavours of house. Often hailed as the godfather of this sound Lag uses a heady punch of bruised hip-hop samples over Zulu maskandi drums to style his sound through his production and selection. As the genre has gone from strength to strength Lag has seen himself burst onto some of the strongest platforms the game has to offer including Boiler Room and BBC Radio 1's Essential Mix; two milestones in his career.
Strange Riddims →
Joining the GQOM king will be none other than the weirdest, wiggiest but nonetheless one of the most wonderful crews in town. Having hand picked some of their individual members for our previous shows, this time the whole crew is out in force to warm things up as well as shut things down on the evening. The party purveyors Strange Riddims have been doing their thing for the past 3 years in the city we all know and love and have unequivocally solidified themselves as one step ahead of the game in Manchester's clubbing circuit. Now with a Soup Kitchen residency under their belt as well as a compilation freshly out on Bandcamp, we couldn't think of a better squad to invite down for this particular soirée.
Korzi → Left, Right & Centre
Our very own Korzi will be warming things up on a chuggathon along with a few strangers.
Music Genres: African, Bass Music, House, Techno, Tribal House
