Review of Fire of Love by Hazrat Amir Khusro

Overall rating: 4 Verified review

This was an unusual subject and line up. Eloquent warmly delivered narrative and poetry and transcendent music by virtuoso musicians. It was wonderful to hear my friend, who I invited to the event, so intrigued and expanded by concepts and dimensions of love and devotion that she felt were new to her western experience. A joy for me too.

International Supershow Review

Josh Bodom defeated Bedlam
Wristlock Rovers & 2 Dimension defeated CJ Banks, Cyanide & Blackpool Blondes
April Davids defeated Jenny Sjödin to retain the Futureshock Women's Championship
The Models defeated Notorious BAD to retain the Futureshock Tag Team Championships
Zack 'Diamond' Gibson defeated Dave Rayne in a Steel Cage Match to become the #1 Contender
'The American Wolf' Davey Richards defeated Jack 'Grappler' Gallagher to become the new Futureshock Champion

It was a night that Jack Gallagher will never forget. His leg injury after slipping from the ropes during a high-risk maneuver and the subsequent attack by Davey Richards targetting his weakened limb will be haunting 'The Grappler'. In unsportsmanlike fashion, 'The American Wolf' took this epic contest to another level when he decided to ignore the officials attending to Jack's injured leg and blast it with devastating kicks. Despite Jack's best efforts to continue the match and retain his coveted title, Richards' assault was too much for the Champion. Following a barrage of high-impact offense and a knockout head kick, Davey Richards pinned Jack Gallagher to become the seventh Futureshock Wrestling Champion. What now for Jack, and what now for Davey? Will the Futureshock Title be held hostage by 'The American Wolf' in the USA? Will the new #1 Contender get his shot at the title, or does Gallagher deserve a rematch?

In other news from a monumental night of wrestling action, Josh Bodom scored the biggest win of his career after defeating the monster from Venezuela, Bedlam, and the Wristlock Rovers & 2 Dimension defeated CJ Banks, Cyanide and the Blackpool Blondes. DDL somehow managed to avoid a gigantic top rope moonsault from Cyanide during this match - a move that would surely have ended the contest!

April Davids exacted revenge on her long-time rival Jenny Sjödin by pinning her to retain the Futureshock Women's Championship. After being out of action for so long due to various injuries, this victory was a validation for Davids. Despite winning the Futureshock Women's Round Robin Tournament with the maximum amount of points, the Female Fight Machine simply couldn't beat the Lancashire Terrier!

The Models defeated #1 Contenders Sam Bailey and Sean Daniels to continue their record-breaking reign as Futureshock Tag Team Champions. After employing numerous cheap tricks and underhanded tactics (including involvement from their stunningly beautiful manager, Melanie Price), The Models pinned Bailey following a Super-3D from the top rope. Can anyone defeat The Models?

Finally, after months and months of backing away from his rival, Dave Rayne was locked inside a Steel Cage with Zack 'Diamond' Gibson in order to determine the new #1 Contender to the Futureshock Championship. Both men brutalised each other in this thrilling contest, until Zack was able to leave the cage following an insanely dangerous double foot stomp from the top of the cage! Gibson exacted revenge on Rayne by humiliating the former Futureshock Champion, before blowing him a kiss and leaving the Steel Structure to win the match.

What now for Rayne? Can he bounce back from this huge loss? Who will be next to challenge April Davids and The Models for their respective titles? Will Josh Bodom continue his winning ways and progress to the upper echelons of Futureshock competition, and who will get the first title shot against the brand new Futureshock Champion Davey Richards? All will be answered - soon!

good stuff

Overall rating: 4

primarily went to see Murcof, having not heard of Denis Jones or Johann Johannsson before. Absolutely blown away by Denis Jones' performance. I highly recommend catching him live. Quite disappointed with the Johann Johannsson performance as it was pretty far from music I get on with. However, Murcof was excellent. Only let downs being A) the lighting in the theatre meant that the visuals weren't quite as engaging as they should have been, and B) I think AntiVJ's setup died about three-quarters of the way through (I'm sure I saw him throw his hands up when Murcof turned to ask him something). The starfield visualisation was incredible, however.

chrisdicki's Review of Murcof + AntiVJ, Johann Johannsson, Denis Jones at Royal Northern College Of Music

Overall rating: 4.5

Denis Jones was amazing and really made it for me. As for Johann and Murcof it was a bit underwhelming for what i was expecting really. I have heard some of johann's stuff and he semmed not to have stepped up to the mark on this occasion.

Murcof was good as were the visuals but i think not the right venue for it. In a club yes but the RNCM not really. But overall a good event.

davidp's Review of Murcof + AntiVJ, Johann Johannsson, Denis Jones at Royal Northern College Of Music

Overall rating: 4

only saw the end of denis johnson, but seemed interesting.

Johann was good, although frustratingly fragmentary. A longer piece would have given the music time to develop.

Murcof was good, although at times felt rather dancey in a leftfield way. Visuals were good especially at the beginning.

mahaffy's Review of Murcof + AntiVJ, Johann Johannsson, Denis Jones at Royal Northern College Of Music

Overall rating: 4

Denis Jones was way the best !
One man and his tape loops..outshone the others for soul, heart, edgy live perfomance. Watching him onstage plus the closeups on the screen behind as he layered up sound by whirling between computer, guitar, pedals and even tapping the end of the jack made it an ultra live event, something you felt was unrepeatable. And the screen images were either his face/ ear / eye close up and white in the bright light like a manic owl, -or brilliant repeated overlapping images of his whole body at work, but on a split second delay so you saw five of him like mirrors behind -visual echoes to the sound loops...Esp like the song Beginning.Go see Denis Jones at Dulcimer in Chorlton on May 24. And thanks to Futursonic for introducing him...
Johansson and Murcof seemed like guys on a bog european tour for whom tonight was't that special. Yeah, nice stuff with Anti VJ's white neon 3D projections...but all those stars? A bit star trek...
Mahaffy.
