Mother's Bloomers 2019 on Saturday 16th November 2019

Trailblazing Queer performance platform Mother’s Ruin returns to The Royal Exchange for it’s third year with Mother's Bloomers, a space for LGBTQ+ performance artists from Manchester and the North West to present short, bold new work.

Hosted by comic and Literary Death Match Manchester champion Fat Roland, Mother’s Bloomers 2019 will feature new work by 8 Northern emerging Queer artists.

Black British spoken word poet Maz Hedgehog plays with folklore and mythologies; non-binary artist, musician and maker Kate Stonestreet presents 'kate stonestreet is a cryer'; theatre maker Caitlin Gleeson explores how in an LGBTQ+ intolerant world coming out can be dangerous, exhausting and radical; independent dance artist from Halton, John Adam Roberts presents an autobiographical solo dance inspired by life as a gay man with autism; Rachael Kelly an Australian multi-disciplined performer explores the intersection between queer, feminist and basic human and animal rights; Zimbabwean writer and performer Mandla Rae interrogates the process of ‘becoming British’; made in Birkenhead, developed in Coventry and flourishing in Manchester, Dorian Wilde as a gutter drag king harks back to the days of a music hall knees up complete with poor manners and a dandy sense of humour; and Tom Halls, performance artist, writer and creator originally from Melbourne, focuses on queer experiences and disrupting mainstream narratives.

New for 2019, the Studio bar will be open for artists and audience to mix and mingle before and after this event.
