Any progress requires the conviction to consistently pursue your own path. The Berlin-based DJ and producer KlangKuenstler is the best example that talent isn’t just a matter of luck. You also need the courage to believe in your own skills while steadily developing them. It's no coincidence that KlangKuenstler became one of the most promising house artists of the German scene within the last three years.
Growing up in the southernmost corner of Germany’s Allgäu area, it was his first clubbing experiences at Munich’s Harry Klein that infected him with electronic music. Following his evolving passion for grooves and bass lines, he moved to Berlin in 2012. Driven by the German capital's music and club variety, KlangKuenstler soon not only emerged as a DJ and live act, but also emphasised his multi-faceted personality by way of his initial singles: while „Barfuss auf Wolken“ was released in 2013 by the quality label Stil vor Talent and reached more than one million plays online, „Hand in Hand“ (Soundplate) was supported in the BBC Radio 1 show by Rob Da Bank.
Only one year later, his debut album „That’s Me“ marked a milestone for the young newcomer, which soon resulted in him playing at renowned clubs such as Watergate (Berlin), Egg (London), Razzmatazz (Barcelona), Hive (Zurich), Pratersauna (Vienna), or Live RCA (Bangkok), as well as the big festival stages at Global Gathering, SonneMondSterne, Bestival, Dockville, and Mystic Garden. With the increase in international gigs, KlangKuenstler also refined his sound, merging old-school vibes, funky hooks, and drum samples in an effective balance as proven by his hit „Jam Master Jack“ (Smiley Fingers), which climbed to #1 on Beatport’s Tech House charts in the spring of 2016.
Whether deep, booty or tech house – his sets and productions neither fit into a simple category nor do they follow popular trends. By focusing on an infectious blend of percussion and rhythm, KlangKuenstler stands for a strong characteristic sound with high memorability that can easily send every dance floor into a state of ecstasy. From his releases on Toolroom, Suara, Simma Black or Great Stuff to the numerous gigs such as Stil vor Talent’s label showcases – KlangKuenstler is always seeking for exciting variations within his style. The ambition of always reinventing himself not only explains his recent success but indicates a bright future ahead.
After launching his label “Under No Illusion” in 2013, his rise has been stratospheric… you can now see him popping at the likes of Elrow @ Space, Hot Creations @ Digital, Cafe Mambo, Papagayo in Gran Canaria, not to mention Sonar where he played a total of three gigs one year. He’s also become something of a legend in Cologne, holding down a residency at Living Room having previously spun at the world-famous Heinz Gaul and Reineke Fuchs.
Before Ki hit the heights internationally he really earned his stripes rocking it at venues across the UK since the mid 90s, including a residency at legendary Carlisle club night Uber which lasted ten years – the entire lifetime of the night. At Uber he played alongside the likes of Roger Sanchez, Hot Since 82, Green Velvet, Eats Everything, David Morales and of course his old best buddy, Yousef.
On the production front Ki has released on some serious labels down the years including Elrow, Snatch, Circus, 8bit, Lost Recordings, Kenja, WOW Recordings, New Violence, Glasgow Underground, Cajual, Material, and Underground Audio. As if that wasn’t enough, his own label UNI Recordings managed to break a record and feature a total of three times in one night on Pete Tong’s Radio 1 show. Three times!
Haste makes waste. You may describe Mirco Caruso’s previous career with these three words and it will fit perfectly. This club-musician with Italian roots doesn’t work with a prybar, he doesn’t care for exclusive hypes and he sure is no bandwagoner. Mirco Caruso’s career is embossed by a constant buildup that finally brought him to the musical genre he belongs to.
His earliest experiences with DJ-ing were at the age of 14 in the middle of the nineties. After he started with playing hip hop, he soon discovered electronic music and began to experiment with its possibilities. In March 2014, Mirco Caruso’s first tech house-track was released, kicking off his musical future. The name of this EP was “La Llorona” and was a success, particularly in South America. In September 2014, he succeeded again with his “Systematic EP,” released on Go Deeva Records.
Then it was time for Mirco Caruso’s final breakthrough, the “Siren EP” (Go Deeva Records). Dennis Ferrer played it at his New Year’s Eve set, well known acts like Dosem, Sharam (Deep Dish) and Catz n Dogz played 'Siren' at the BPM Festival 2015 in Mexico and from now on Mirco Caruso was in the global community’s spotlight. Especially DJs in England fell instantly in love with his songs.
Mirco Caruso has played at the Arosa Electronica, the iconic Gurten festival and was booked by the renowned Hive club in Zurich. He's also performed at the famous EGG Club London, along with notable gigs in Athens, Gran Canaria, St Petersburg and Moscow. In 2017, he had two tracks mixed by Popof featured on the official Amnesia Compilation.
He is currently spending time in his studio producing fresh material for his imprint, 2Drop Records, and labels like Gruuv, NoExcuse, Hive Audio, 303Lovers, Stereo Productions, Habla Music and Go Deeva Records.
