Solardo return to Manchester for New Year's Eve.
Mark Richards and James Eliot built their reputation in basements like this. Before the Warehouse Project shows, the Hï Ibiza residencies and the Beatport number ones, they were running Solardo Sessions in a Northern Quarter cellar that held 100 people. They haven't forgotten where it started.
They're bringing it back to Princess Street. Joshua Brooks on New Year's Eve. The same building where The Chemical Brothers held their first residency in 1993. Void Acoustics in a Grade II listed basement.
House music in the way this city does it.
Solardo's run stands on its own. 'Tribesmen' on Hot Creations. 'Move Your Body' with Marshall Jefferson. 'XTC' with Eli Brown. The Sola label they built from the ground up. DJ Mag's Best Duo. BBC Radio 1 Essential Mix. They've been vocal about Manchester losing its underground spaces. This night is part of restoring that energy.
Support comes from two names who fit the bill. Mike Morrisey - Manchester born and bred, Kaluki resident and Libero Records boss with a percussive, rolling sound shaped on stages like Music On and Fabric. Fifi Forte brings deep basslines and 90s house influences backed by support from Jamie Jones, Marco Carola and Joseph Capriati.
New Year's Eve. Underground setting.
A Manchester crowd. Simple as that.
