Guernica. The unknown artwork on Thursday 22nd November 2018

Picasso's Guernica is undoubtedly the most important painting of the 20th century, not only because of its artistic value, but also because of the political and social implications that have been attributed to it. But Guernica is a symbolic picture. After fourteen years of research, Professor José María Juarranz de la Fuente suggests that Picasso’s symbols bear no relation to the bombing of the Basque city or the Spanish Civil War, but refer to key moments in the artist's biography.
According to the author, all the elements that appear in the Guernica (the bull, Picasso, the horse, his wife Olga Koklova, and so on) have a sense which could be deciphered through the study of the sketches and the previous work of Picasso.
