Review of Psappha: Dark Flower
Another stimulating, highly enjoyable concert from Psappha. The choice of pieces was great, including a world premiere and a UK premiere. My own personal favourite was the Steve Mackey piece "Indigenous Instruments" which was not only brilliantly played but also quirky and humorous. Psappha excelled again.

Review of The Last Island
I enjoyed the programme. Especially the pieces in the first part ( is not Orkney). Especially by Anna. I was disappointed by the film/ sound section though PMD was powerful. In that one the film followed the music rather than vice versa. Repetitive sound worlds. The venue was however too large for some pieces being very quiet. It was hard to hear from where I was sitting and the air conditioning sound was intrusive

Review of The Last Island
The usual excellent performance from Psappha, coupled this evening with wonderful films of Orkney which inspired the music specially composed and premiered at the concert. Don't miss their next concert on May 12th at Halle St. Peters.

Review of Firsts and Final Frontiers
Some music more interesting than rest. Brilliant playing. Staff at venue were welcoming but there wasn’t any interaction with the audience. Felt something of a closed shop with college network. Relationship to Manchester that was claimed for the composers was tenuous only working professionally in a location with one exception. Music as such didn’t relate to manchester. Horrible traffic and unpleasant outdoor eating surrounding the venue. Inconvenient early start.
