CUTE OWL experimental music festival on Saturday 21st January 2017

Sale of advance tickets has closed but you can still buy tickets on the door! Cute Owl Promotions are excited to announce a brand new intimate festival of grassroots live eclectic innovative and experimental music.

Zheka and Zhah Bah, using samples, vocals, hurdy-gurdy & whistles, finely craft post-intersectional, confessional and sexy EBM/IDM with personal protest lyrics, sharp satirical imagery and a sweet sadomasochist vibe. Formed in Ukraine in 2008 tAngerinecAt have four albums to date and performed hundreds of shows all over UK and Eastern Europe.

'This is some of the most powerful music I have heard in a long time, and holds a message too... difficult to believe there were only two musicians on stage. They manage a real art; creating sound which people enjoy' - LOUDER THAN WAR, Watch Out For Tangerinecat

'Tangerinecat exploded into my world and I'm a happier man for it! Awesome energy and multidisciplinary. Myself and the team at New Art Exchange really appreciated your work'

- Jason Pollitt‎, NEW ART EXCHANGE

BBC 6 Recommended Artist by Tom Robinson

Featured on BBC 2, BBC 3 and BBC 6

'You were absolutely brilliant, so captivating! Comment from one of our volunteers 'I couldn't take my eyes off the stage'. Thanks so much for coming and sharing your creativity with us'

'This is the only thing that I want to listen at this moment'

'With such disparate influences, it’s rather difficult to pin this down to a particular genre.'

- FRESH ON THE NET (Fresh Faves), The Von Pip Musical Express

'I’ve been playing it all week and loving it. I was listening to Under the Pavement radio and they interviewed tAngerinecAt, and I was very moved actually. Every so often you hear a piece of music and it just stops you in your tracks, well by all manner with that one, with innovation, and it’s sound, and it’s lyrics, it’s just quite moving.'

'It just blew everyone away, I was stunned in there and I was like gob smacked cos it was so atmospheric and so meaningful and they were really into it and I look forward to getting them in.'

- Liz Jenkins, Presenter of The Northern Side, BCB 106.66 fm

Code: Marla vs Spire Cranes

Tired of being lonely solo artists, Code: Marla and Spire Cranes have brought their unique approaches to live electronic music together to create a hybrid of dubstep, trap and post-rock. Using a mix of traditional rock instruments and modern electronic gadgetry, C:M vs SC are setting out to give you a nights entertainment like you have never seen or heard before.

Stephanie Finegan

Stephanie sang songs and read verse as though she was the Sybil in Delphi – the High Priestess of Hip. Some of her poetry had an offbeat spirituality to it, reminding me of Allen Ginsberg’s Howl. A wonderful mix of psychedelic stream of consciousness, urban punk, post-beat poetry, psycho-metaphysics with a bit of Zen thrown in for good fun. A lexical ensemble of wonderful diversity, shot through with eclectic imagery and electric metaphors.
Winner of the Swansea Poetry Slam 2016 and Hammer&Tongue Slam at Edinburgh Fringe this year. She has written books of poetry and toured throughout Europe.
'Rarely have I come across a composer-artist possessed of such energy accompanied by the most effortless originality. Stephanie Finegan transcends acoustic singer-songwriter, electronica, hip hop and slam poetry seamlessly, oozing creativity'
– John Hywel Morris, PRS for Music Senior Membership Development Manager, Wales

Astonishingly nuanced performer/songwriter and one of the finest lyricists on Manchester's lo-fi solo scene.
'Ethereal lullabies, played and sung in inimitable style—understated, yet brimming with invention and delicate beauty' - Crowfoot Records

'I’d been hearing rumours that a beautiful new female voice had emerged in Manchester, with a few unheralded live shows leaving close friends spellbound by her performances. Today is the first time I’ve heard this voice and I won’t be forgetting it. She probably doesn’t realise just how good she is, but Tekla Szerszynska is a star.

Its not unfair to compare her to someone like Serafina Steer, an artist I promoted right at the beginning of her career, and who is now critically acclaimed thanks to the release of her latest album ‘The Moths Are Real’. They are both nakedly themselves – and share that same ability to captivate you.'

Cynthia's Periscope

Confessional experimental synth pop, with moments varying from fragile and tender, to harsh and brutal and all points in between.

Rik Andrive

Innovative fingerstyle guitarist performs his self-penned arrangements of the likes of Mike Oldfiled and Aphex Twin as well as traditional, classical and original material.
