Deco Presents = Chupa Cabra-Giant Boys-Mr.Ted-Saint Ivy-TBAYN on Saturday 25th May 2019
Deco Records is bringing some of our favourite acts from our recent shows back to Fuel
Chupa Cabra / Giant Boys / Mr. Ted
Saint Ivy / The Bear Around Your Neck
One generation or another's alienation, derangement and dirty washing, projected back at you through Chupa Cabra's Nauseating, salivating, hypnotizing, no good sucker-punch-piss-yourself polystyrene agitator Blues.
'There’s a lot to be said about the spirit of punk and whether it’s dead or alive. If it’s the brash, insightful and critical strain that Poly Styrene’s X-Ray Spex propelled that you’re seeking, then CHUPA CABRA are likely to be right up your street.’- Bido Lito!
'Chupa Cabra have a punchy yet musically accomplished style… Argy-Bargy of the highest order’- Louder Than War
Giant Boys are the Salford based Post Punk duo of Scottie McKnight & Guy Connor. Formed in the spring of 2017 out of a mutual desire to record something satisfyingly heavy. As the project progressed, it became clear that the Giant Boys ethos was to write and record very quickly, always using first takes and never overthinking or labouring songs.
The duo released their debut EP ‘Clap Your Hands’ in October. This follows the two singles 'Leeches' & 'Lemon Party', Giant Boys have also been featured on the BBC Introducing Mixtape, included in BBC 6's Tom Robinson's Fresh Faves blog, and played on his BBC 6music show, as well the BBC Radio Manchester Introducing show, XS Manchester and Amazing Radio.
After being hand picked by Everything Everything to play at Band On The Wall for 2018's Off The Record New Music Festival & Conference Giant Boys are now back in Blueprint Studios making final tweaks to their next single due out in March 2019...
Absolutely blew us away at The Railway in January. This loud mob from Merseyside are part of a little punk crew we have been assisting with their infiltration of Manchester one band at a time. Seriously worth a watch.
When asked to describe themselves recently by music-is-my-radar.com this is what the band had to say:
'Well it is definitely music of some kind, it has elements of music that you might recognise. How best to describe it? Erm… uh…umm...... scrungey, heavy, loud, noisy and big dose of silly. It’s difficult to describe our sound, we jump in and out of genres song to song (frequently in-song). It’s big music. Why box ourselves in to one particular thing? It’s big enough music.'
Back sharing the line up with Mr. Ted after the great night at The Railway on the 26th. We really enjoyed their energetic show and looking forward to having these guys back again.
They describe themselves as indie rock, we think they are much much better than this description. Check them out.
