Lee Gamble + rkss (Live) on Thursday 12th April 2018
Grey Lantern by arrangement with Annex Agency present
Lee Gamble (Live)
+ RKSS (Live)
Join us for the evening of computer music gone dancing extravaganza at Band on The Wall this Thursday!
Lee Gamble returns to Manchester to present a live performance based on his sublime Hyperdub debut album Mnestic Pressure, which sees him adopt a new, more lucid sonic vernacular, firing off an extatic response from the press - Mnestic made it into the end of the year lists at Resident Advisor, Rolling Stone, Bleep, XLR8R The Wire, The Quietus and Bleep.
The live show is a détournement of accelerated frenzy of the advertising blitz of today’s cities and virtual spaces – flash projections, abrupt light & strobe discharges act as an analogy to a forced memory, or - Mnestic Pressure. étournementAnd you can dance to it.
In his review of Unsound Festival for The Guardian Ben Beaumont Thomas mentions Lee’s performance:
Lee Gamble created poetic shards of 90s rave culture as bursts of junglism vied with the sound of speeding cars.
Joining Lee with a live performance is rkss aka Robin Buckley, a London based sound artist. They hold German and UK passports. Their releases on Where To Now?, Alien Jams, Conditional and more have explored the materiality of film sound, YouTube and EDM sample packs through the lens of house, ambient and computer music.
UIQ’s live VLF signal transmission from the label’s home in North London will provide a gentle respite in the intermissions between performances.
Music Genres: Alternative, Electronic, Techno
