Open-air theatre production of Jane Austen’s ‘Sense and Sensibility' on Sunday 29th July 2018

Join Chapterhouse Theatre Company this summer and Picnic with family and friends in the picturesque grounds at the Mercure Maidstone Great Danes Hotel as Elinor and Marianne Dashwood make their first forays into the exciting world of Regency society.

Adapted by award-winning writer Laura Turner, this exquisite and lively tale follows the sisters as they fall in love, make mistakes and experience heartbreak for the first time in their quest to find a balance between sense and sensibility. Picnic in some of the most beautiful gardens and enjoy a night of magical theatre under the stars.

Chapterhouse Theatre Company is now in its 19th year of touring open-air theatre to stunning country houses, castles and heritage sites across the UK and Ireland. From the first year of performances at 30 venues with Romeo and Juliet in 2000, Chapterhouse now visits over 180 venues every year, and has become a greatly anticipated addition to thousands of theatre-goers’ calendars.

Entry is from 3pm onwards with the production commencing at 4pm.

Running time approximately 2 hours, with an interval half way through.

Make a day of it and arrive early to enjoy Sunday lunch in our newly refurbished Brasserie restaurant. Booking is necessary. To book your table please call 0844 815 9045. Sunday lunch available between 12.30noon – 2.30pm.

A BBQ and bar will be available on the ground for you to purchase food and beverage on the day. Alternatively, bring your own picnic to enjoy whilst watching the great theatre production on ‘hopefully’ a hot summers day.
