Sam Billings – Kent Captain

Kent Cricket Academy graduate Sam Billings made his senior international debut with some cameos in the one-day international series win against New Zealand. He kept his place in the squad for the limited-overs series against Australia and on the winter tour to play Pakistan in the UAE. He put pen to paper on a contract extension early in 2016 after being drafted to play for Islamabad United in the Pakistan Super League. He has also represented Delhi Daredevils in India and Sydney Sixers in Australia. Billings was appointed men’s captain in January 2018.

Paul Downton – Director of Kent Cricket

Former England wicket keeper-batsman Paul Downton was appointed the club’s director of cricket in January 2018. The former Kent and Middlesex gloveman was born in Farnborough and made his first class debut for his home county in 1977 as understudy to Alan Knott. He was part of a Kent side that won two County Championships and the B&H Cup before winning nine trophies at Middlesex. After his career, he sat on the board of Middlesex County Cricket Club for 19 years.

He joined Middlesex in 1980 and made his Test debut a year later, earning 30 Test caps and 28 One Day International appearances. At Middlesex, he was part of a side that won four County Championships, three NatWest Trophies and two B&H Cups.

The 60-year-old pursued a career as a stockbroker in The City after his retirement from the game and served as managing director of England Cricket.

Matt Walker - Kent Cricket Head Coach

Matt Walker was appointed Kent Cricket’s new head coach with Allan Donald as his assistant in January 2017. The Gravesend-born coach has also worked with Essex and England Lions. Matt is well known to Kent Cricket followers having enjoyed a nineteen year playing career, the majority of which were for Kent. As a player he scored 12197 first class runs, including 28 hundreds, as well as holding the record for the highest individual Kent score at The Spitfire Ground, St Lawrence – 275 not out.

Allan Donald – Assistance Kent Cricket Coach

Former South Africa fast bowler Donald, 50, joined Kent assistant coach in January 2018. He has worked at Warwickshire and enjoyed coaching spells with the Australia, New Zealand as well as coaching at Indian Premier League franchise Royal Challengers Bangalore.
