An evening of Sufi music with Ustad Haji Ameer Khan Qawwals on Saturday 26th June 2021

Asian Arts Agency and Norden Farm Centre for the Arts presents a captivating evening of mystical Sufi Qawwali music.

Led by Ustad Haji Ameer Khan Qawwal the group originates from a long tradition of qawwals. The leader of the group, Ustad Haji Ameer Khan is the son of famous late classical teacher Ustad Latafat Hussain Khan.

Ustad Haji Ameer Khan is based in the UK and has been performing for over 30 years internationally. They have performed at several high profile festivals and venues including WOMAD 2018, World Sacred Heart Festival, London and Birmingham Mela and Trafalgar Square London.

Drawing on a rich vein of Islamic and Sufi poetry, Qawwali is a form of Sufi music. The audience will experience an exhilarating evening of powerful vocals, traditional clapping and strong, hypnotic tabla rhythms combined with the harmonium – all embedded within the tradition of Sufi mysticism.
