Reviews of WORK Gallery in London

WORK Gallery venue information

WORK is an independent gallery and event space that presents a varied interdisciplinary programme in close collaboration with innovators in the fields of art, architecture and design from around the world.

WORK is located within the emerging cultural centre of King’s Cross and is an active participant in the local arts scene. The AfterWORK Events Series, incorporating panel discussions, artist talks and film screenings, provides a publicly accessible means of stimulating critical debate around the themes and practices of exhibiting artists.

Also resident at 10A Acton Street is PAPERWORK Bookshop, which stocks the full range of beautifully produced art, architecture, photography, fashion and design titles from Black Dog Publishing, as well as a selection of critical theory titles including key works by practicing artists, theorists and curators on visual culture, postmodernism, aesthetics, philosophy, sexuality and much more.

Bespoke publications relating to the subjects of WORK’s exhibitions are published by Black Dog Publishing Limited and Artifice Books on Architecture, WORK’s affiliate companies. The gallery is also a contributing member to the twice-yearly journal, Paperwork.

WORK’s courtyard features two permanent site-specific artworks: Civilisation and its Discontents (2001 2009), a black flag by Cornford & Cross; and I Should Be In Charge, a mural designed and hand painted by Bob and Roberta Smith to celebrate WORK’s launch in March 2011.
