Calibro 35 + Heliocentrics on Saturday 13th April 2019

AGMP presents Calibro 35 + Heliocentrics.

A very special one-off double bill from two of the heaviest psychedelic funk groups in the world.

Active since 2008, Calibro 35 enjoys a worldwide reputation as one of the coolest independent bands around. During their ten years career, they have been sampled by Dr. Dre on his ‘Compton’ album and Jay-Z. They have shared stages worldwide with the likes of Roy Ayers, Muse, Sun Ra Arkestra, Sharon Jones & The Dap-Kings, & Thundercat.

Described by Rolling Stone Magazine’s as “the most fascinating, retro-maniac and genuine thing, that happened to Italy in the last years”, Calibro 35 are back in London performing music which references Ennio Morricone to David Axelrod and has been comapred to Jaga Jazzist, Yussef Kamaal, and The Budos Band.

Active since 2006, The Heliocentrics are a London based collective of musicians who have performed alongside DJ Shadow, Mulatu Astake, Dr Lloyd Miller, Madlib, Orlando Julius, Melvin Van Peebles and Hypnotic Brass Ensemble, to name but a few. The Heliocentrics comprise Malcolm Catto (drums), Jake Ferguson (bass), Jack Yglesias(percussion), Adrian Owusu (guitar), Ollie Parfitt (keys), Mike Burnham (synthesisers), Tom Hodges (electronica) and Just B (vocals).

The Heliocentrics sound encompasses Psychedelia, LIbrary Music, Kraut Rock, 1970's Italian Soundtracks, Ethiopiques and the Velvet Underground. Since the group's 2007 debut album 'Out There' on Now-Again Records, The Heliocentrics have recorded for Strut Records, Now-Again and released two albums in 2017 on Soundway Records.
