Theatre has the power to give voice to those who are unheard. This October LynchPin Theatre stages the European premiere of the award-winning Apples in Winter. This one-woman play tells the story of an American motherwhose son committed a violent crime. He’s been on death row for 22 years. In a few hours the state will execute him. As is the tradition, he is granted a last meal: he asks for his mother’s apple pie. As the mother shows the audience how to make the perfect pie, they watch her attempt to understand what happened to her son – and how everything changed one night 22 years ago. The play raises questions about the price of justice, forgiveness – and love; post-show discussions explore the issues raised.
5-15 October at The Playground Theatre, London W10
