Repair Cafe Islington on Sunday 4th November 2018
Repair Cafés offer broken items a second life. Experts to provide training sessions to help mend clothes, fix bikes and upcycle furniture.
This autumn, North London Waste Authority is launching a series of new Repair Cafés in Barnet, Camden, Enfield, Hackney, Haringey, Islington and Waltham Forest to help residents breathe new life into items they would normally throw away.
Repair specialists will be on hand to provide free repair consultations and training to residents keen to learn how to mend their clothes, fix their bicycle or upcycle a small item of furniture. They will also run live upcycling demonstrations on small household items for people to watch in between one-to-one sessions.
The specialists providing training and inspiration are from Xsazia and Traid (textiles), Thrifty’s Retro (small furniture items) and Cycle Confident (bicycles).
North London Waste Authority is holding three Repairs Cafés in each of the seven north London boroughs. Two are being held in each borough this side of Christmas. The training sessions provided by the repair specialists are all free.
Interested north London residents can book a 30-minute slot online at wiseuptowaste.org.uk/repaircafes and then bring their item to the Repair Café on the day.
