Background information

On Saturday 16 July 2011 the Latchmere Promotions team put together an extravaganza of Roots & Culture in a night called Brothers & Sisters Of Roots: Part 1.

On the night MC Trooper from Vibes FM and FireBones from Omega Radio set the vibe by spinning a conscious selection of Roots & Culture, preparing us all for the showcase:

In the main room a total of ten artists took to the stage, which included reggae icons such as Michael Prophet, Little Roy, Prince Malachi and Empress Ayeola, plus there was a Special Surprise performance, from Askala Selassie who wowed the guests and the team with her Proud to Be Rasta and Love You Always.

Backed by the world famous Band Ruff Cut, they entertained the audience with their superb voices spreading the message of love, unity, spiritual uplift and education – time to put down the gun and spread Peace & Love.

Stalls selling cultural items, clothing, music and delicious food, added colour, flavour and aroma to the evening, ensuring all five of the senses were catered for.

Heavy bass filled the other room, Jah Youth Roots Ambassador, Lord Ambassador, Governor Turbo Matic and Guest DJ Isaac Natural from Conscious FM ‘cooked up’ and ‘kept the pot boiling’ with a solid, spiritual Roots Rock Reggae Session right through into the morning hours!

In 2017 this event will be back, bigger and better!
