With Autumn upon us and Issue 109 hitting the print presses we have put together a Halloween Clash Live special.
Teaming up with the mighty Parlophone Records we host performances from Shakka, Elderbrook, Hex, Romzy and special guest, alongside our very own Sophie Simone and Clash DJs.
Upstairs in the Ace Hotel Lobby we are excited to welcome back Astral Black Records head honcho Jon Phonics, alongside Impey and Jossy Mitsu spinning tunes into the witching hour.

Shakka continues to confound expectations. The West London phenomenon closed 2016 in fine style, with new EP 'The Island' showcasing the sheer breadth of his talent. Opening the new year with breathless ambition, Clash premiered 'Don't Call Me'. Playing on perception and varying viewpoints, the clip found Shakka battling himself, switching between the present and flashbacks to emotional trauma. Directed by Asylum 33, it was both deeply personal and a hugely effective artistic feast.
'Man Down' featuring Aluna George has racked up 50 million streams and counting. New release 'Sugar Cane' extends Shakka's repertoire further as he composed, played all musical accompaniment, sung and self-produced this new banger. Musically directing his own shows, there is nothing this man cannot accomplish. We are incredibly excited to host Shakka as headline act at Miranda.

“I’m a walking identity crisis,” London-based rapper Ashnikko laughs. “It’s cool though, it helps me write music.” Born in Oak Ridge, North Carolina, surrounded by farmland and “loads of rednecks,” her family uprooted to Estonia, then Latvia, when she was thirteen. Where, unsurprisingly, she stuck out like a sore thumb as the foreign kid with weird speech patterns.
Discovering rap as an outlet for her “pubescent angst,” she achieved an impressive level of success in Riga, but it was tough to pursue in the “very patriarchal” Baltics, where she received weekly death threats for daring to be a woman making music. Since relocating to London aged 18, the sound Ashnikko has cultivated is cartoonish, stomping beats with hi-hats poached from the Dirty South and zeitgeisty sung-rap lines like “I’m a Tesla, fuck a new Ferrari”.

Straight out of Nottingham, Hex broke through last summer with infectious road anthem 'Limitless' getting heavy plays and support online. 'Santana Smooth' aired below gives a glimpse of things to come.
Growing up outside of the London scene on a musical diet of Gorillaz, Michael Jackson, 50 Cent and Eminem, Hex had time to develop his own brand of Notts' special sauce. Flow and melody aplenty, expect scenes for Halloween.

Hailing from South East London, YIC (Youngest In Charge) rapper Romzy is all sorts of naughty on the mic. He flows over afrobeat, trap, grime, hip-hop and bashment styled beats, clearly showing the talent is real.
First release 'Bottles Got Popped' racked up spins from Charlie Sloth and a host of radio DJs and playlists nationwide hitting over a million streams combined. This summer saw Romzy head out on The New Wave Tour alongside Headie One, Loski and the latest crop of talent shelling down the stages with high intensity bars. Romzy also shutdown Wireless and was the youngest performer at Reading & leeds festival this summer. His new single 'Talk On Me', also released this summer, shows Romzy levelling up and gives a glimpse of what we can expect at his Clash Live performance - it should be a rowdy affair!

Balcony are an international proposition. The four band members draw upon three different continents, but the group call London home. Fusing their backgrounds and influences into one seamless whole, Balcony are responsible for some pretty potent pop music.
Dreamy melodies re-cast in an electronic setting. Tune into recent cut featuring Liv Dawson 'You're So Cool'...
