About

The Sunday West Soundystem returns to the Loft Studios once again for our famous Notting Hill Carnival rave up, also celebrating our 15th anniversary of parties.

For 2024 we present THE PRODUCERS, a selection of headline artists all famous for their extensive and unique sound, huge catalogues of tracks and general influence on the electronic music scene. These guys will be playing entire sets of their own underground house & garage productions, an immersion in to the sounds they have created. Expect nothing but fire from UK sound pioneers MATT JAM LAMONT, JEREMY SYLVESTER and the main man BUSHWACKA.

This years sprinkle of Carnival jungle beats will be supplied by Sunday West boss RUFUS and the iconic MC SHABBA D, arguably the leading voice in jungle & D&B today. The Sunday West resident DJ team will be bringing the underground party vibes in the courtyard and main room. This years MC HOST is fresh face ONYXSTONE, who's been making his own noise as a regular partner of DJ SPOONY, sets on 1 EXTRA and as part of the RAMPAGE crew.

MATT JAM LAMONT

A pioneer, respected DJ, an accomplished producer/remixer, label / A&R manager and radio presenter, Matt ‘Jam’ Lamont has been an intrinsic part of the UK Dance scene from its very inception.
Matt hooked up with fellow DJ Karl ‘Tuff Enuff’ Brown, and together in 1993 they formed the now legendary production/remixing team, Tuff Jam. The duo became the leading figureheads of the UK dance scene during the mid to late 90′s, turning out a slew of classic anthems from ‘Tumblin’ Down’ and entered the charts with TJR’s ‘Just Gets Better’ (Multiply) & Tuff Jam ft, Jaquee Bennett Need Good Love (XL) to top remixes for Kristine Blond, Boyz II Men, Usher, Coolio, En Vogue, Rosie Gaines, Brand New Heavies, Mark Morrison and more. In the summer of 2000, Matt started up his own label, Solo Recordings, which has quickly established a reputation for releasing quality new tracks including Frances James & DJ Faces massive ‘Girls Play Too’ as well as much loved scene classics from Mike Dunn (God Made Me Funky), The Jam Experience (Feel My Love), Zak Toms (Bring Me Down), Plutonic, Colours (Hold On) and MK as well as up & coming Russian producer Artifact.
As an unceasing champion of the British music scene, and indeed of great garage music irrespective of origin, it’s no misnomer to class Matt ‘Jam’ Lamont amongst dance music’s real pioneers.
JEREMY SYLVESTER

Jeremy Sylvester is a not only a highly influential producer and DJ with mainstream appeal, but also an underground legend revered by those in the know. This veteran of the UK scene has achieved commercial success and critical acclaim over a near 30-year career that has seen three UK Top 20 singles and an astounding four million records sold worldwide.

Producing under an extensive variety of aliases including Club Asylum, Sly and G.O.D, Sylvester has an expansive discography that explores the spectrum of UK Garage, house, and every micro-genre in between. Not only a prolific producer, Sylvester is also an in-demand remixer and collaborator, having worked with Shola Ama, All Saints, KC & JoJo and Kristine Blonde.

Jeremy Sylvester’s DJ style is as refined and eclectic as his studio output. Often working in a solid mid-tempo groove but occasionally veering into speedier climates, his versatile sets range from classic 90’s garage to slinky underground house and are crafted with the talent and expertise that comes from 20+ years in the game. This mainstay of the UK scene has cemented a reputation as a dance music pioneer and a consistent innovator, managing to stay ahead of the game while staying true to the classic grooves that inspire him.

BUSHWACKA

Matthew Benjamin, a percussionist in the London School Symphony Orchestra who was converted into a member of the infamous Rat Pack after a warehouse party in ’88, has been DJing for over 30 years now. From that first Acid House experience Matthew quickly started playing all over London, holding residencies at four of the most famous clubs in town by the time he was 18 years old. From London the gigs spread countrywide, doing up to 8 shows a weekend, and then into Europe and the USA by 1992.

It was via a mutual friend Mr C that Layo & Bushwacka! first met, whilst Matthew was working at his studio, and by the mid 90s the two had started writing music together. Over a decade later, the partnership has yielded three artist albums, three mix albums, internationally renowned club residencies and a superb record label.

2024 and Bushwacka has released House music on Nu-Groove, The Classic Record Company, and Aus Records, and Tech-House tunes on Bedrock, Oblong, and Hey records in Amsterdam. He has signed a further 10 release deal with the Defected Group, and has remixed and collaborated with Archie Hamilton, Darius Syrossian, and Carl Cox, and Crosstown Rebels.  On top of this he is re-releasing vinyl only limited tracks from his Plank Records catalog, and other rarities, and relaunching Oblong records. Gig wise, this summer Bushwacka! has focussed on a select handful of shows as the world opens up again, from London Kiev, Manchester, Liverpool and Brighton, Glasgow to Ibiza, Brazil to Australia and more. He starts his Pikes Ibiza residency again in April  2024, and will tour his favourite parties around the planet, doing what he loves best…

MC SHABBA D

One of the true pioneers of Jungle and Drum & Bass, this East London MC has stepped on stages across the planet and left his mark on the World. Shabba "the lyrical dappa" has been one the jungle scene's leading voices from the mid 90's to the present day. From the formative jump up years of the 90's - One Nation, Telepathy, Jungle Fever, Kool FM we all have our favourite Shabba moments. To the modern days and the evolution of SASAS with Skibadee (RIP), Stormin (RIP) and Harry Shotta, now a major international festival and headline act, touring the world. So blessed to have this guy on the team this year.

Sunday West residents Richie Fingers, Leroy Roberts, Paolo Francesco, Nick James, Chloe Fontaine, Yousif, Kaz Daniels and Jimmy V complete the team.
