About

AGMP presents THE REZILLOS'Top of the Pops' 45th Anniversary Tour+ very special guests: THE PROFESSIONALS with Paul Cook (Sex Pistols)

The Rezillos are a punk/new wave band formed in Edinburgh, Scotland, in 1976. Their independent debut single, 'I Can’t Stand My Baby' shot them to underground fame initially via airings on the radio show of BBC Radio 1's John Peel.

Their follow up classic singles 'My Baby Does Good Sculptures', 'Top of the Pops' and 'Destination Venus' signalled critically acclaimed milestones for the band.

The Rezillos recorded their landmark album 'Can't Stand the Rezillos' in New York’s fabled Power Station studio, immersed themselves in the local music scene and dropped in during downtime to play a gig at CBGB’s, the hub of Punk Rock music. The album reached the top 10 in the UK album chart and is lauded as punk classic.

The foundations for The Professionals emerged while Paul Cook and guitarist Steve Jones busied themselves completing the film 'The Great Rock 'N' Roll Swindle', following the demise of the Sex Pistols in 1978.

With the Cook ‘n’ Jones composition ‘Silly Thing’ reaching #6 on the UK single’s charts in 1979, the pair proved they could deliver in their own right and spent the rest of the year working on what would become The Professionals’ debut single ‘Just Another Dream’ and the follow-up singles ‘1-2-3’ and 'Join The Professionals'. The 1981 album ‘I Didn’t See It Coming’ hit the shops in 1981 but the band split at the end of their 1982 USA tour.
