Friday Late - The May Fayre on Friday 18th May 2018
For this May’s Museums at Night, we’re celebrating the annual fortnight-long festival that gave Mayfair its name.
On the first floor, in Handel’s Music Room, Baroque musicians Charles MacDougall (tenor) and Katarzyna Kowalik (harpsichord) will reveal a narrative celebrating the coming of Spring using some of Handel’s greatest operatic pieces.
On the second floor, Handel’s bedroom – the room where the great composer died in 1759 – will be taken over by Art Macabre's Death Drawing Salons.
Try your hand at life drawing with Art Macabre. Injecting a lethal dose of theatricality into sketching, Art Macabre will present an eccentric tableaux to inspire your sketches. Inspired by accounts of the May Fayre’s ‘beheading of puppets’, sketch curious characters and macabre marionettes to be found at the fair. Ghostly shadows of the May Fayre’s most strange and surreal entertainments.
Up on the third floor, where Hendrix lived in 1969, English folk songstress Olivia Chaney will perform a very special acoustic set in Jimi’s bedroom.
All of this, plus some surprise performances and drinks at our pop-up bar.
Earlybird tickets £15 - https://handelhendrix.org/whats-on/events/the-may-fayre/
