Sky Blue Theatre presents: The British Theatre Challenge on Tuesday 1st - Friday 4th October 2019
The British Theatre Challenge is delighted to be returning to the Jack Studio Theatre with five new plays, wrapped into one very entertaining evening. A night of diverse, exciting and award-winning plays from around the world.
Produced by Sky Blue Theatre, the challenge is open to all playwrights, and our 8th year has seen 280 short plays submitted from 14 different countries making this the biggest challenge yet!
The British Theatre Challenge has been supporting and producing work by emerging and established writers across the globe since 2012. In the past few years over 40 winning plays have been offered publication as a direct result of the challenge.
This year's winning plays are:
Cougar by Michael Fenlason
Antisocial by Media Julie Barnett
For Abby by Holli Harms
Trick or Treat by Ron Asher
Fabio the Great by Elspeth Tilley
A hugely inspirational vehicle for anybody watching. Slick... clever... a force to be reckoned with. Sky Blue Theatre's concept and format for the British Theatre Challenge is a clever one... and one that deserves greater exposure. Five stars. Downstage Centre
The acting was superb... enjoyable evening to begin with but grew in its substance and hold of the audience, all presented by a dynamic and engaging Sky Blue Theatre host. I look forward to hearing more from these writers and next year's challenge. Five stars. Fairy Powered Productions
All five pieces absolutely deserved their place on stage and will, I hope, be seen by audiences again in the future. Theatre Things
