Jon Gomm's Guitarnival on Thursday 15th November 2018
The critically acclaimed and internationally lauded percussive guitarist Jon Gomm has always supported emerging talent, by producing guitar nights and inviting his fellow players from around the world to perform with him to engage new audiences and encourage their development. Now, he is delighted to present this production with promoters Glasswerk and be able to announce the very first Guitarnival tour dates, two intimate interactive shows this autumn.
Also performing on the bill is Russian Alexandr Misko, widely tipped to be the next viral internet guitar hit.
The opening artists will be announced soon.
As part of the event there will be limited availability tickets for a masterclass with Jon Gomm, at the venues in the afternoon. These tickets are separate to the evening concert.
Jon Gomm, based in Leeds, West Yorkshire in the UK, is an acoustic singer-songwriter with a revolutionary virtuoso guitar style, where he uses one acoustic guitar to create drum sounds, basslines and twisting melodies all at the same time. The emphasis is still on the soulful vocals and songwriting, and his original material is influenced by everything from Robert Johnson to Radiohead.
His live shows combine deeply personal performances and a natural wit, with a once seen, never forgotten two-handed guitar style, both physical and complex, producing sounds people can barely believe are coming from a humble acoustic guitar.
Alexandr Misko is the 20-years-old fingerstyle guitarist from Russia. He is an arranger and a composer. He plays lots of gigs all over the Russia and has many TV appearances there. In 2016 he released his debut album 'The Songs Of Adolescence' with the only original music.
He has more than 4 and a half million of views on his own YouTube channel. Recently his 'Billie Jean' cover video had reached more than 30 million of views on Facebook and he has become popular all over the world.
