Sat Feb 17 - Alllllll abooooooooooooooooooard The South London Soul Train Express. Another multi-level mission to 'Good Time Town' via 'Lift Foot and Get Down City'. Your guest host AJ KWAME (Incognito DJs) and WAH WAH 45 Head Honcho DOM SERVINI joined on level 1 by blistering Brass Hop Band, The Mighty AFRO CLUSTER [Live] + so much more across 4 floors at The CLF Art Cafe, Block A, Bussey Building. Part of our going mission to seriously blow your mind and body + force feed your soul with the absolute best of times.
Afro Cluster are a Cardiff based band citing Fela Kuti, Snarky Puppy, Ozomatli, The Roots & Talking Heads amongst their influences. Together with front man MC Skunkadelic, they meld authentic sounds and rhythms of afro-funk and hip-hop with impassioned, politically conscious lyrics atop bold melodies, afro-beat aural acrobatics, rich harmonies and complex rhythms.
Changes to the line up in 2015 refined the focus and determination of the band to establish themselves at the forefront of the UK hip hop scene.
Afro Cluster are one of the Horizons 12 acts for 2016/2017 (a collaboration between BBC Wales & the Arts Council of Wales). Notable high profile gigs include performances alongside the Hot 8 Brass Band, Los Angeles Hip Hop champions People Under The Stairs and Oregon jazz juggernauts Young Blood Brass Band.
They’ve recently been building momentum, gaining recognition from BBC Radio Wales’ Bethan Elfyn, Adam Walton, BBC Radio 6’s Tom Robinson and Craig Charles. They were also part of Adam Walton’s ‘Best of 2015’ playlist and since then have gone on from strength to strength + we truly can't to once again witness the audio carnage on The South London Soul Train Stage.
Then on Level 2. Expect the FUNK, The whole FUNK and nothing but the FUNK as Legendary 45 DJ SNOWBOY and SPECIAL GUESTS load the turntables and let loose with an all night barrage of hand picked dance floor classics and rare vinyl nastiness all night long.
