TIME TO MOVE ON UP! Sat June 02 - The South London Soul Train picks up the spirit of Curtis Mayfield, soul of Stax music and invites you all to 'Get on board and Move on up' for a very special Souled Out, Funked Up South London Soul Train Expedition of Epic proportions at The CLF Art Cafe.

Level 1 - Your dancefloor tenderising host with the absolute most JAZZHEADCHRONIC taking you on an exploratory journey through the soul, music and legacy of the legendary Curtis Mayfield and hip quaking soul of Stax Records. Stax without doubt one the greatest (and earliest) record labels to ever etch soul & funk on vinyl + truly destroy the dance floor. The Jazzhead joined by 45 soul slinger MR DOBS (opening set) and at midnight sharp, a stunning on stage performance by one of the UK's leading collectives of heavyweight old skool soul - THE CURTOM ORCHESTRA featuring A TRIBUTE TO CURTIS MAYFIELD & THE IMPRESSIONS (LIVE) at The CLF Art Cafe.

Plus and as always we got so much more on 4 floors. Part of our on-going mission to move your mind & body + force feed yoh soul with the absolute best of times at The South London Soul Train.

LEVEL 1 - THE CURTOM ORCHESTRA (Live)

THE CURTOM ORCHESTRA - Made up of some of the UKs finest Soul, Jazz and Funk musicians, The Custom Orchestra formed back in June 2011 in order to be both the warm up and backing band for the IMPRESSIONS London Barbican and Manchester Bridgewater Hall Shows. After tearing down the house at both concerts and glowing reception by the critics, audience and (more importantly) original Impressions band members (with whom they'd just performed) The Custom Orchestra was born and since their inception truly haven’t looked back.

Over the last 7 years the hugely in demand band firmly establishing themselves as The UKs premier exponents / channellers of The sound and spirit of Curtis Mayfield & The Impressions.

Post Band over to JAZZHEADCHRONIC for a full length celebration and exploration of the classic and rarer cuts of Curtis Mayfield & The Impressions (band + solo) alongside a deep dive inside the soul shaking, funked up, floor banging world of STAX Records. The sounds of Otis Redding, Booker T. & The M.G.’S, Isaac Hayes, Sam & Dave, Rufus Thomas, Eddie Floyd, The Bar-Kays, Kim Weston, Leon Ware + More, mined, explored and served up on a dynamite rig, for max dance floor satisfaction. All night long.

Then on LEVEL 2 [and not to be outdone] let the Funk Mercilessly Flow as your 2nd floor hosts the legendary DJ SNOWBOY & Jazzcotech warrior PERRY LOUIS drop the absolute finest on 45 direct to the torch lit dancefloor and the whole of yoh soul. Cue Explosion - time for another red hot dancefloor session in funked up soul.

LEVEL 3 - S’all all about the Northern Soul of it all. The Legendary ROB MESSER and rotating special guest WARREN BOOGALOO dropping the platters that absolutely always will matter. The choicest cuts from the Motown, Stax, Volt, Chess & the rest vaults - signed, sealed and truly delivered.

The South London Soul Train line up completed in The RYE WAX BASEMENT. The Super Soul Bowl. Guest hosts from MIDNIGHT RECORDS - The ever tasty YAM WHO & ALAN DIXON are at the helm for a global excursion through the planes of World Wide Wonder Funk, Soul, Groove, Disco, Hip Hop Boogie & Beyond. Absolutely Positively Taste.T.

The South London Soul Train [as always] all floors taking all passengers on a Non-Stop Magical Mystery Tour through all things Too Damn Funky. P-Funk to Jazz Funk, Soul Jazz to Rare Groove N’ Stax, Brass, Breaks, Bop and Hop to Motown, Club Classics and Anthems.

However - Passengers are requested to check their Souls at the Station as this ones for good time party people only! No Bass Wobbles Here, Only Love, Funk and Souuuuuuuul.
