THE MONO LPS SINGLE LAUNCH on Saturday 26th May 2018
The Mono LPs, a local Liverpool band that is gathering fans by the minute. Created by accident, the group started when Ste Reid chanced upon Vicky Mutch, a relation of Elvis Costello, in a coffee shop. Intrigued by the huge case Vicky was holding, Ste asked her what string instrument she was playing. From then on, the rest is history. Currently, the quartet is composed of Reid as the frontman/guitarist, , bassist Chris Barlow, drummer Dan Beech, and Vicky as the cellist/harmonies. With the unusual addition of a cello in to the mix, the band’s songs sounded richer compared to other local indie pop punk outfits.
The Mono LPs’ distinct sound has captured the ears and support of so many locals, that the band’s gig for BBC Introducing Sessions at the famous Cavern Club was sold-out. Due to the overwhelming response of people at gigs and blogs, the club’s own Cavern Records decided to produce The Mono LPs’ first single/EP called Die a Little Death. Recording was done at Parr Street Recording Studios in Liverpool. This was followed by the debut album States of Decay in 2016 recorded at WhiteWood Studios again in Liverpool This not only demonstrated the bands song writing and recording credentials but also their ability to take that to the stage live with energy and passion
Norway reached out and took the band to two consecutive ‘Fosnavag Rocks’ concerts generating a Norwegian following, Audience went wild during their energetic sets that by the end of their performance, many were dancing wildly to the beat.
The band have supported Top Loader and Status Quo. They recently opened the new Peaky Blinders bar in Liverpool and featured on the 15m views Ladbible video. In 2017 they came in the top 3 for the the UK Aloft star competition.
2018 brings a live session recording of States of Decay at Breakpoint Studios for a small select group, a second album recording in April back at WhiteWood, and a new single launch at Liverpool’s Zanzibar Club
