Liverpool based new music group Immix Ensemble are no stranger to collaboration, formed in 2014 as part of Metal’s Time and Space residency they are now in their third series of unique performances in Liverpool and beyond.
Signed to acclaimed ‘modern classical’ label Erased Tapes (home to the likes of Olafur Arnalds and Nils Frahm) Immix have presented over a dozen new collaborative works in Liverpool, working with a wide-array of artists, from the leftfield songwriting of Jane Weaver, Kelly Lee Owens, Stealing Sheep and Bill Ryder Jones to artists at the forefront of the British experimental music scene such as Luke Abbott, Vessel and Ex-Easter Island Head.
For the fifth and final concert of this series they have teamed up with Laura Cannell & Ella Finer to present a one-time performance melding traditional instrumentation and recorded voice, exploring theme relating to movement, language and sound.
'On the dark edges of folk music lingers Laura Cannell, a violinist and recorder player who uses traditional instruments to evoke unearthly, ageless narratives, while this music feels ancient, it also feels brutally alive, as if a giant was waking from long slumbers, about to make its way in the world.'

Ella Finer’s work in sound and performance spans writing, composing and curating with a particular interest in how women’s voices take up space; how bodies acoustically disrupt, challenge or change the order of who is allowed to occupy – command – space. She has performed and spoken in galleries, theatres and with broken records, voice scores and speech choirs.
