St Michaels Sessions on Friday 27th March 2020
Please note, this event has been postponed until 11th Sep 2020.
After the success of the first St Michaels Session before Christmas it seemed to make perfect sense to do it all again. This time with 4 more incredible artists. Same event times as before, 7.30 pm doors open and music starts early at 7.45.
The artist line-up for this event is.. Reid Anderson, Munkey Junkey, Rachael Jean-Harris, LYDIAH
Reid Anderson is a singer-songwriter and actor from Liverpool. He writes dark, sweeping sounds; lyrical vessels, reminiscent of sea shanties, traveller’s songs and folk myth. Imagine The Wicker Man soundtrack written by Nick Cave, or an episode of The Twilight Zone soundtracked by Leonard Cohen and Johnny Cash. Reid will soon be releasing his next single 'My Dearest Friends' from the Beatles dark comedy short 'Paul Is Dead' via Manchester label MUK Records.
Rachael Jean Harris is a writer and vocalist, combining jazz, folk and indie to create distinctive and emotive songs.
Liverpool-born Rachael has devoted her life to the writing of songs. Recently, the majority have fallen into rich themes surrounding the lives of people on the edges of existence. These themes become areas for detailed thought and research, sparked by real stories, resulting in evocative and poignant tales. Her 2019 release ‘Leaving Light’ focussed on those living in confinement, in particular the daily realities of Death Row inmates in the USA and explored the complexities of human dignity, longing, memory and the power and potential of mercy.
Rachael's current writing takes on a distinctly more personal theme, intertwined with a growing interest in the lives of birds. She is discovering how journeys through loss, grief, past relationships and new freedoms find solace and reverberation within the natural world.
Rachael graduated with a first class music degree from the Liverpool Institute for Performing Arts and is due to begin a Masters programme at the Royal Northern College of Music in 2020.
‘going pro at letting go’ is Munkey’s third release to date. Luring you further into the the Munkey Junkey’s surreal and intoxicating world of tectonic beats an Eastern mysticism.
His lyrical topics range from the deeply personal and historic, like on the opening track ‘Haridwar’ where Munkey talks about his grandmother’s marriage at 13 at the time of the partition of India, to singing about a girl who’s never felt ‘real love’ while her Dad’s on business trips on the song ‘Real Love’. And chilling with cats on ‘Chasing Gold’.
Kurran, aka Munkey, has produced these songs at home and on his laptop, whilst on tour playing and recording for other artists such as Zuzu and Queen Zee.
Born and raised in Liverpool, 20 year old LYDIAH is a songwriter as much as a storyteller. Her love of poetry, lyricists, art and film combine with her delicate musicality to create a sound that feels familiar, and utterly enchanting. Through her atmospheric and captivating performances, her music draws you in to a world full of complex characters and dark stories.
Music Genres: Acoustic, Blues, Country/Americana, Folk, Hip Hop
