ZOE CHIOTIS @ PARRJAZZ on Tuesday 12th June 2012

We are delighted to welcome back the beautiful and soothing tones of ms ZOE CHIOTIS! and in her own words... I sing, write songs and play my guitars. My inspiration comes from emotion, unusual noises and the desire to express myself through more than words alone. ... My Projects at the moment are The Zoe Chiotis Band which consists of my best friends; Sean (Born Funky) Tighe on drums. Seriously Groovy Andy Chaisty on bass and The Boy Wonder Jamie Safiruddin on keys who never cease to amaze me. With sometimes special guests Hornography who are dripping in cool. Im also part of a beautiful trio the Magic Beans with Ulrich Elbracht on guitar and Nick Blacka on double bass, both brilliant musicians. And Im part of a fun filled, all singing female trio called The Woo Hoos! With Sassy Scott Julie Bruce on Cajon and the Mischievous Rioghnach Connolly on flute. I grew up just east of the spaghetti junction, the first child of a Guitarist and a Herbalist. In the pram I listened to BB King, Django Reinhardt, Nick Drake, Pink Floyd & The Doors. At 4 I agreed to go to Ballet lessons on the promise id be getting new shoes, but was devastated when I discovered that they were not high heels. None the less from the first class I decided I was going to be a dancer. The majority of my childhood was spent creating musicals, then bulling and bribing my friends into taking part. When I was 7 I cut my first recording; a compilation of nursery rhymes for my baby brother. I think I enjoyed it more than he did though. My first paid job was as a dancer for BRMB radios live outdoor shows. This was thrilling because the audiences were huge! I can remember not being able to see where the sea of people ended cause it was so far away from the stage. I started singing when I was 15 in intimate venues and developed a love for improvised music. Very quickly I decided that I wanted to be a musician now and gladly Ive not changed my mind since. I moved to Manchester when I was 18 and a whole world of incredible musical talent opened up before my ears.
