Mike Blue on Friday 24th March 2023

Mike Blue started out as a solo singer songwriter in 2018. This was the year he released his first body of work ‘The Demo Tapes’ - a collection of demos he recorded at Liverpool’s Parr Street Studios. Blue then began performing around the U.K, gigging and busking whilst flogging his album to get from place to place. During the lockdown, Blue wrote, produced and recorded his second album: ‘Dark Daze’ which he then toured extensively at the end of 2021. This was Blue’s first national U.K tour which he ventured alone. In 2022, after an extensive touring schedule, Blue began work on his third up and coming album, recruiting musicians he had met from his days playing around the Liverpool music scene and busking to form a fully fledged band fronted by Blue. During this time Blue focused on finishing up the album but still played over 180 shows throughout the year. Blue played his first gig with his newly formed band in August at Liverpool’s Prohibition Recording Studios in-between recording the album. The show was a sell out and already have several shows scheduled together throughout 2023. They finished wrapping up their first studio album together at the end of 2022 and released two singles throughout the year. Both of these singles were met with high praise and were featured on both BBC Introducing and Louder Than War Radio as well as being met with favourable reviews in several online publications including the likes of: A&R Factory, Music Republic Magazine, Liverpool Noise, Right Chord Music and Lost In The Nordics. Blue’s new album moves away from the early folk/fingerpicking style associated with his first two albums and branches out into unfamiliar territory. The new album consists of blending such genres as: Folk Rock, Progressive Folk, Jazz and Blues. Blue's new line up features a range of local members, all renowned musicians in their own right. The band consists of: Jacob Hackett on Drums, Rachel Dover on Saxophone, Dominic Sanderson on Electric Guitar, Tristan Apperley on Bass and Tyler Swindley on Keys.

Music Genres:

70s, Acoustic, Folk, Jazz, Rock
