Review of Johnsysshots Presents: Sam Millne
A real triumph for Sam Millne appearing at his first ever headline gig, with excellent support slots from Liam Locke and Laro, The packed out audience were treated to a top class set featuring Sam's fine blend of catchy melodies and riffs, and some hard hitting lyrics exploring key social issues of the day. His band The Virants provided tight energetic backing, with Sam showing his usual stage charisma and command of his songs, it was a blend that had the audience singing along to his singles, including Italy & Living in Limbo, a duet with Laro, with his latest, Rockstar, a real standout on its first live performance since its release. He's one of the hardest working musicians around; the sustained applause for him and his band was well deserved. The Kazimier Stockroom and Gardens was the prefect setting for the gig, plenty of space to relax and have a drink before and after the gig, the Stockroom a tight venue with event acoustics. A top night all round. If he keeps putting out the quality he's shown so far, on record and live, there can only be good things ahead for Sam and the band.
