Immix Ensemble Presents: Kelly Lee Owens & Thomas Gill on Thursday 20th September 2018
Liverpool based new music group Immix Ensemble are no stranger to collaboration, formed in 2014 as part of Metal’s Time and Space residency they are now in their third series of unique performances in Liverpool and beyond.
Signed to acclaimed ‘modern classical’ label Erased Tapes (home to the likes of Olafur Arnalds and Nils Frahm) Immix have presented over a dozen new collaborative works in Liverpool, working with a wide-array of artists, from the leftfield songwriting of Jane Weaver, Stealing Sheep and Bill Ryder Jones to artists at the forefront of the British experimental music scene such as Vessel and Ex-Easter Island Head.
For the third concert of this series they have teamed up with Kelly Lee Owens and Thomas Gill to present a one-time performance melding the organic, immersive visuals of Thomas Gill, the dreamy electronic pop of Kelly Lee Owens and the traditional instrumentation of Immix Ensemble.
'A work of great craft, multifaceted charm, and, yes, an alluring marriage of the visceral to the gentle, this album feels like the opening chapter of a thrilling career.' - TLOBF on Kelly Lee Owens S/T.
Using Owens’s critically acclaimed 2017 album ‘Kelly Lee Owens’ as a starting point the collaborators will present this unique performance combining Owens’s voice and electronics, classical instrumentation and live immersive visuals, lighting and staging from Thomas Gill.
Support will come from Immix composer in residence - Andrew PM Hunt (Dialect), Immix Artistic Director - Daniel Thorne with Nina Franklin (Lupini) providing the soundtrack between acts. The Performance will take place at Liverpool's Invisible Wind Factory.
Immix Ensemble are committed to making new music accessible, as such there’ll be an allocation of free tickets to those claiming JSA, please email firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
