Tickets available here:
Lefto (Worldwide FM / Brownswood)
Making his city debut, one of the most important tastemakers to come out of Europe, we've wanted to host Lefto at 24 Kitchen Street for some time now. Revered by Gilles Peterson for his selections, Lefto is consistently a couple of steps ahead of your average early adopter and is respected by everyone from Thundercat to Jordan Rakei to Madlib.
Firmly rooted in jazz and hip hop, he sharpened his digging sensibility working at the now legendary Music Mania record store in hometown Brussels. His passion for jazz resulted in a remix album for Blue Note which was well received by the community. Lefto is forever moving forward but always has an ear in the past. Famed for his gloriously eclectic DJ sets, he switches effortlessly between hip hop, funk, breaks, neck-snapping beats, future bass, South-American influences, bruk riddims and some wild African rhythms. He's not only a DJ and producer but also curates his own stage at the Dour Festival and his own nights in Gent in collaboration with Democrazy, all the while holding down a regular slot on the acclaimed World Wide FM.
World renowned, LeFtO regularly blesses sound systems from Tokyo to Seoul and Singapore to New York, San Francisco and Los Angeles. He has been a resident deejay for Gilles Peterson's Worldwide Festivals since 2008 around the world.
Children of Zeus (First Word Records)
There ain't a better hip-hop/soul act coming out of the UK right now than Konny Kon and Tyler Daley aka Children of Zeus. If you were in attendance at De La Soul a few years back you'd have caught the duo warming it up. If you didn't, well now you can stop sleepin!
Konny Kon & Tyler Daley met back in 2005, after both performing a show near Paris in their respective crews, Broke'N'£nglish and Body Roq. The duo met up back home in Manchester, spurred on initially by a mutual admiration of each others music, and produced their first track together, aptly entitled 'Coming Home To You'.
A few years later, Tyler approached Konny about producing a full EP together. These sessions included the creation of a track called 'Still Standing', which ultimately saw the light of day last Summer on First Word. Still a highlight in their live sets, the Lenzman rub won 'Best Remix' at the 2016 Drum & Bass Awards. The original has become somewhat of a British Soul anthem since its release, with people that missed it first time round still clamouring for it on wax.
As they've grown within the family of Manchester's music scene, they've provided a tonic to the city's bass-orientated club scene, breathing Soul back into the city, whilst maintaining their heritage of Hip Hop swagger. As an MC, Konny takes no prisoners, whilst Tyler (a prolific MC in his own right) has gained a rep as one of the UK's strongest Soul voices. Both artists have been blessed with the talent of beat-making. A combined craftsmanship upon the boards and in the booth.
This is nothing short of an honour to have the lads perform live at 24 Kitchen Street, in support of their latest EP 'The Story So Far' on First Word Records and in anticipation of their debut album in 2018.
Special Guest (TBA)
With support from our nearest and dearest, the No Fakin' crew and Madnice DJs, who've held it down for 24 Kitchen Street from our early beginnings and repped for us across all genres these past 4 years - it's a family affair!
