Statement of Intent Christmas Party on Wednesday 18th December 2019

A Bad Man

Heidi’s work has included electronic music for Mediterranean supermarkets, expanded vocal pieces and found sounds that dissipate and fracture and leave room and time to invite you to perhaps contemplate your own inner monologue with warmth. Her live concerts are wonders of intricate programming, vocal looping and spun out stunning techno.

Artifact Kin

Releasing one of our favourite EPs of the year, Artifact Kin channels the forces of bass music into a twisted and economic post hip-hop electronica, that stutters and squiggles with an undeniable swagger.

A careful approach to programming detail and finely honed sound design provide a counterpoint to the stripped back ethos in operation, providing the listener with some highly functional tools for deep listening and avant-dancefloor friendly movement.

Last seen ensuring super-max audio quality as part of the sound team at the recent Aphex Printworks extravaganza, Ben Eyes’ relentless commitment to casting the creative net across the many forms of electronic music production ensure that every show treats us to something quite new.

Ben’s secret York based lab is a dreamland where elaborate software systems co-exist with banks of hardware and it is here that bespoke systems are concocted for his live performances.

Expect the unexpected.

Matt Robson

Luke Skywalker once famously retorted to C3PO that “If there's a bright centre to the universe, you're on the planet that it's farthest from” as he described the backwater planet that is Tatooine.

It might not be such a bad metaphor for the fringe music made by Matt Robson, a folk art electronic music of the sort made by those who really rather have no idea of what they are doing but supplant their lack of technical prowess with a childlike boundless enthusiasm.

Watch out for ragged syncopation and an off kilter engagement with melody.

Music Genres:

Electro, Electronic
